Located on Kootenay Lake, on Highway 31, in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia, the land of the best bike roads you’ll ever have the joy to ride!! 3 out of the top 5 best bike roads in British Columbia are located at our doorsteps. We are 25 miles north of Nelson (population 10,000), which is on the southern tip of the West Arm of Kootenay Lake.
Kootenay Lake is 90 miles long and has terrific fishing for Trout and Kokanee Salmon. Boats and charters are available for rent nearby. The Balfour Ferry Terminal is 5 miles South of us; this is where you catch the 45 minute Kootenay Lake ferry (world’s longest free ferry ride) to connect you with the east side of Kootenay Lake. Riding around the lake makes an awesome day trip. Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort is 4 miles North along Hwy 31, which is on your way to the town of Kaslo, a nice heritage town of about 1000 people.
We are situated on 34-forested acres, with treed campsites throughout. There is a large “social pavilion” with a pool table, and music. The pavilion is a great place to meet other riders and swap stories or plan a ride together. Spring 2004 saw the completion of the washhouse, with hot showers, flush toilets, and laundry room.
As we are “in the middle of nowhere”, noise and neighbours are not an issue . With 34 acres of trees and about 100 designated sites you can always find a quiet nook if you are so inclined. We have covered shelters at some sites. These are suitable for a picnic table or a place to park your bike out of the elements.
We also take group reservations, and can put together a package price, including live entertainment if that is of interest to you. Check out our rates and regulations.
This is an old fashioned campground; affordable, happy, and with guidelines rather than rules. Kids stay free, and sociable pets need only be leashed at their owner’s discretion.
Fun, music, and riding. Come celebrate Canada's independence with us.
